What each band means for you
- Band A — Excellent
- Among the most efficient homes in the country, with the lowest running costs.
- Band B — Excellent
- Efficient — typical of a well-built new home.
- Band C — Good
- Above average. This is the band the government wants most homes to reach.
- Band D — Average
- The most common band in the UK. Usually a handful of measures away from a C.
- Band E — Poor
- The bare minimum you can legally let a home at in England and Wales.
- Band F — Poor
- Below the letting standard. A rented home at F needs work or a registered exemption.
- Band G — Very poor
- The least efficient band — high bills and it cannot be let without an exemption.
